“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
It is the mission of Dog Gone Tired Sanctuary and Rescue to provide
an appropriate, nurturing and loving environment to Boxers and
other dogs with special needs who no longer have homes and are
typically considered unadoptable.
It is an unfortunate fact of life that many people acquire dogs with
good intentions, but – for a myriad of reasons – subject these
trusting animals to neglect and abuse. The ones who survive such
maltreatment are typically placed for adoption or are labeled
The unfortunates who are not or cannot be adopted are
typically euthanized. Applying human standards, the thought of
someone being put to death is unfathomable if their sole “indiscretion”
was being victimized by someone else. But dogs are not people, so human standards are inapplicable, and euthanasia under these circumstances is acceptable…to some people. Not to this sanctuary.
Our view is that dogs are sentient, loving, caring animals who typically give far more than they receive. As stewards of this earth and all which inhabit it, we bear a responsibility to care for those unable to care for themselves. This certainly includes domesticated animals which have been discarded by or removed from owners who could not or would not meet their stewardship responsibilities.
This sanctuary offers a second chance to Boxers and other dogs with special needs who have been treated like refuse, or worse. It is a safe haven, offering the canine residents the opportunity to live with a pack (their natural social order) and with people who have the emotional and practical wherewithal to adequately care for their needs. We consider this service to be not only an obligation to these Wonderful dogs, but an honor as well.
Dog Gone Tired Sanctuary and Rescue is a Non Profit 501 C-3 organization. Your donations are happily accepted and are tax deductible.
