I’d been volunteering at another rescue when Toni decided to launch a Sanctuary for dogs labeled as challenging and unadoptable. My passion lies in adopting dogs that others might overlook – those who are deaf, have behavioral issues, or both. When Steve Hidey and Toni shared their vision to create a place where these challenging dogs could thrive, I was immediately drawn to it.
Steve became one of my closest friends, and his accident, leaving him in a diminished capacity, was a blow to us all. In his absence, I felt compelled to help carry out his dream, which soon became my own. Without Steve’s talents, I knew I had to step up to ensure his vision came to fruition. I became the boots on the ground, keeping the necessary projects moving forward.
Seeing the dogs transition from a limited existence to thriving at the Sanctuary is incredibly rewarding. It’s a testament tothe importance of this mission and the impact it has on both the dogs and those who care for them. I’m proud to be a part of somethingthat honors my friend’s dream and provides a much-needed refuge for these deserving animals.
